100 Rock Street, Little Rock.
Bring a sack lunch, free drinks and dessert provided.

Blake Wintory, Assistant Director of Arkansas State University’s heritage site at the Lakeport Plantation, will describe important new findings into the history of slavery at Lakeport and in Chicot County. Dating from around 1831, the Lakeport Plantation house is Arkansas’s grandest remaining example of antebellum Greek Revival architecture. ASU’s Delta Heritage Initiative has led extensive renovations of the property, which has served as a museum and educational center since 2007. Wintory will tell about innovative use of traditional and non-traditional research resources that have shed light on what previously was a largely unknown part of Arkansas’s past. Legacies and Lunch is sponsored in part by the Arkansas Humanities Council.
