Remembering the ASI: four long years ago

Remember when the Arkansas Studies Institute was just a twisted lump of dust and metal? How about that gaping hole in the side of the building that seemed like it would never get its own new wall?

These photographs were taken by Kathryn Heller in August 2008 (and were featured on the blog four years ago in antipication of our big move).

This is the back corner of the building. The archivists now work right past that tree in the basement processing area. Curious children used to crouch down by the windows to watch us before we had blinds. They left fairly quickly though -- guess we weren't that interesting.

This crane was moving equipment down into an underground parking area, not on top of the building as you might think.
