Event Reminder: Military History Genealogy Workshop

On Saturday, July 26th, Ronnie A. Nichols will conduct a military history genealogy workshop in the Darragh Center of the Main Library.

Nichols is the owner of Nichols Consulting in North Potomac, Maryland; which provides planning, research and technical services for documentary film, publications, and public programs. Over the past 15 years, Nichols has conducted workshops and professional research in genealogy. In 1997, he organized and founded the Arkansas Chapter of the Afro-American Genealogical and Historical Society.

Nichols has more than 30 years experience in the museum field including as former Director of the Delta Cultural Center (Helena) and The Old State House Museum (Little Rock). Nichols received notoriety when he served as a Technical Advisor for the Academy Award winning movie Glory, based on the story of Col. Robert Gould Shaw and the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War.

Come join us and learn ways to being and expand your research into the military history of your family. The workshop starts with registration at 9am and will continue, with breaks and a lunch, until 2:45pm when Nichols will open up the floor for questions.

Registration is required. Boxed lunches are available for $6 each and soft drinks/water will be provided.
